breaking news all morning long for you. a neighborhood in daly city flooded out this morning, prompting a number of families to evacuate. christie smith just arrived on scene and has the latest information for us. any word where that water is even coming from? >> reporter: well, that's a good question. we definitely know that it's coming from up the hill. we're here in daly city and this is where the water is flowing down the hill and about as far as we can go because police are stopping us from going any further. not just water, but a huge flow of mud. there is apparently some sort of reservoir or water storage facility up the hill that's having a problem and it's tied to some sort of main break in the area. that according to a man that i just got off the phone with, with the water district here in daly city. this is a hillside park neighborhood where evacuations are under way. i spoke with one officer here. he's from the broadmoor police department. he said he was called in about 4:30 this morning to help with traffic control. his boots this morning completely covered in mud. he says

begin this morning with the flooding in daly city where the clean up has begun. we have both nbc bay area's christie smith and bob redell redell with us. we start off with christie smith of the details and what happened. any clean up yet, christie? >> reporter: good morning. it has been a morning and a mess here in daly city. there are front loaders and vacuum trucks everywhere trying to deal with this mudslide. it started with a water pipe that broke off. i wanted to show you what it has done to the hillside this morning as a section came down bringing trees and debris right into the neighborhood. neighbors say it sounded like a storm. water rushing down the hillside along lusanne avenue carrying debris and trees trapping parked cars. it was just to the left of romero's home. >> i was not aware there was a tank up there. >> reporter: what do you think now that you know what happened? >> i'm guessing, you know, infrastructure might be getting old. >> reporter: the gap in the hillside shows where it came from. there is a 978,000 gallon water tank that was 3/4 full. >> it is an eight-i

now in daly city. evacuations are under way near hillside park due to a major water leak in that area. we're told there is a lot of debris in that area. we just got off the phone with the water department who says they have just arrived and they're working on the leak. christie smith is on her way to the scene as well. she'll bring us an update as soon as we know more. >>> an autopsy today could provide more clues into the suspicious death of a man found dying in a trash can. 21-year-old joshua perez was found inside a bin in front of the home of a family home sunday morning. he was alive but unresponsive. he died at the hospital. investigators and family members think he was drinking saturday night. they're trying to determine whether alcohol and pole the cold weather played a role in his death. >>> a verdict is expected today in the trial of a san francisco man accused of violent sex assaults on women. prosecutors say frederick dozier attacked three women along the 24th street corridor in the mission district. that was between june and december of 2011. he allegedly grabbed the vict

set up in the streets because the lights are still out as the city of san francisco tries to fix the mess that she allegedly created. her first collision during this chase throughout the city took place not far from her, 15th and natoma where she hit a bicyclist. he was next to a car that she ran into. that car hit him and he was taken to the hospital as a precaution, minor injuries. now, chp tried to full over serena barrows around 2:00 this morning as she was trying to get on the 4th street on-ramp to the bay bridge. that on-ramp was shut down at the time. chp tell us she took off. they had a chase throughout the city on 101 and local streets, never going faster than 55 miles an hour. along the way she hit the car that hit the bicyclist and she ended up here sideswiping this truck. she is under arrest and faces a few charges, felony dui, felony hit and run and there's an enhancement because she has been charged with dui at least three times prior, this according to chp. reporting live here in san francisco, bob redell, "today in the bay." >>> new this morning, fire crews say th

chopper above the scene in daly city. here's a look at the map to show you where this all happened. a mud slide caused by a water main break which dumped about 45,000 gallons of water into this neighborhood. it turned into a muddy mess. the question now, what about the other aging pipes along the peninsula. let's bring in kris sanchez who joins us in daly city. good evening, kris. >> reporter: hi there, raj. it was about this dark this morning when the mud started flowing down this street in this daly city neighborhood so residents really didn't know what they were going to see once the sun rose, but what a sight it was, they woke up after an 8-inch city water main break broke sending a torrent of 40,000 plus gallons of water down the hillside. it picked up mud, it picked up debris and it picked up steam along the way. residents said it sounded like a storm but when they looked out the window, it was too dark to know what it was. then came the knocks at doors, warning people to get out. >> i saw the police out here and about 5:00 they were here and i could see the water coming down and th

valley of the bay area. this morning we're running about 3 to 5 degrees warmer in most cities than we were just 24 hours ago and that's good news. relative humidity is increasing. 44 degrees in san francisco, 38 to start in napa. 36 in livermore. it is cold out there. 41 in oakland, which is actually very, very cold right by the water, so keep that in mind. we want to talk about showers on the way. what's happening is we've got this area of low pressure just lingering to our north. the tail end will sweep through the bay area but not until we hit tonight. if we do see any showers, the most likely location will be up in the north bay. you can see the showers starting to approach the coast. stop that clock again. between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning we'll get some showers in marin and sonoma counties, so keep that in mind. but look at your highs today. add about 5 to 8 degrees and that's where we're expecting your tuesday numbers to end up in the 70s. 65 in livermore. the next seven days we do have some changes on the way. we'll warm you up and bring the rain back in friday into
